Sister Sadie Stores was born on May 27th, 1926 in Fireco, WV to the late Revered Harry H Waid and Sadie Williams Waid. She is the third born and the last survivor out of a family of 10. She spent her early childhood in Franklin County VA and at age 12 Sadie and her family moved to Roanoke where she was educated in Roanoke City Schools. It was at this time (12 years old) she devoted her life to Christ and was baptized by her father the Late Rev. Harry Waid at Central Baptist Church.
On December 24th, 1945 she married George Stores Sr and their union blessed them with 4 boys: Wayne, Larry, George Jr & Marcus.
Sadie worked and raised a family at the same time. She was employed 17 years at Hotel Roanoke and retired in 1991 after working 27 years for General Electric in Salem, Va.
She was married to George for 61 year until his death in 2008.
She has been a faithful member of Central Baptist Church for 80 years. During her 80 years of membership she has been a part of many auxiliaries including usher board, Sunshine Missionary Circle, and Deaconess Ministry. She has sung on several choirs and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. In January 2017 she was honored as Deaconess Emeritus.
She has 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She loves gardening, reading her bible, and spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes is solving sudoku puzzles and is an active member of the Golden Age Club.
